Website Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how NextRank, a product of Policy Assist LLC (“NextRank,” “we,” “us”), handles information collected through our marketing website at nextrank.io (the “Site”), including when you request an exam, and the information we still hold from our former waitlist. It applies only to this Site. Our mobile app and candidate accounts are covered by the Privacy Policy.
Information we collect
Information you provide. When you request an exam we don’t cover yet, we collect the exam type, your U.S. state, for promotional exams your agency and (optionally) your rank, and your email address so we can reply. The request is sent to our team by email. It does not add you to any mailing list.
Our former waitlist. Until October 5, 2026, the Site offered a waitlist (including one to hear when NextRank came to Android). It is now closed, because the app is available on iPhone and Android. If you joined it, we still hold your email address and any optional details you chose to share then: the exam type you were studying for, your U.S. state, for promotional exams your agency name, and a “source” label noting which page or campaign you came from.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device, and the pages you view, for security, performance, and troubleshooting.
Site analytics. We use PostHog, a product analytics service, to understand how visitors use the Site. It records:
- the pages you view, how far down each page you scroll, and the links and buttons you click (for example “Start free” or a store badge);
- whether you play our promo video, how much of it you watch, and whether you turn on its sound;
- the website or campaign link that brought you here (the referring site and any “utm” tags in the link);
- your browser, device type, and operating system, and an approximate location (city, region, and country) estimated from your IP address;
- that you sent an exam request, with the exam type and state (not your email address);
- errors the Site runs into in your browser, so we can fix them.
We do not make session recordings (replays of a visit) on this Site.
You stay anonymous on the Site: PostHog gives your browser a random identifier, not your name or email address. If you later create a NextRank account at app.nextrank.io in the same browser, your earlier visits here are linked to that account, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Cookies and similar technologies. PostHog stores that random identifier in a first-party cookie on nextrank.io (shared with app.nextrank.io) and in your browser’s local storage, so a return visit is counted as the same visitor. We also keep the campaign tags you arrived with in your browser’s session storage until you close the tab, so a sign-up is credited to the right campaign. We do not use advertising cookies or ad-tracking pixels, and nothing on the Site is used to show you ads elsewhere.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information through this Site, and we ask that you not include any in the optional fields.
How we use your information
We use the information you provide only to:
- Reply to your exam request, and decide which states and agencies to add next.
- If you joined our former waitlist: tell you about NextRank, such as when it became available on your platform, and when your state’s certification exam or your promotional exam becomes available.
- Understand which channels our early interest is coming from, so we can prioritize which states and exams to add.
- Understand which channels bring visitors, which parts of the Site help them, and where it falls short, using the analytics described above.
- Operate, secure, and improve the Site.
We will not sell or rent your information, share it for advertising, or use it for marketing unrelated to NextRank.
How we share your information
We share information only with:
- Service providers who process it on our behalf: Resend (email delivery, and storage of our former waitlist’s contacts), Vercel (website hosting), and PostHog (site analytics and error reports, stored in the United States). They may use the data only to provide their services to us.
- Legal and safety: if required by law, or to protect our rights, our users, or the public.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California law.
Data retention
We keep our former waitlist’s information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until it is no longer needed for what you signed up for. We keep exam requests for as long as they help us decide what to build, or until you ask us to delete them. Automatically collected technical logs are retained for a limited period by our hosting provider. Site analytics are kept for up to one year.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe at any time by emailing privacy@nextrank.io or replying to any email we send. We honor opt-out requests promptly.
- Access, correct, or delete the information you shared by emailing privacy@nextrank.io.
- Turn off analytics. Use the control below to stop the Site from loading analytics in this browser. It is remembered for two years, or until you clear this site’s cookies. Browser extensions that block analytics also work.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA). You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request access to or deletion of it, to correct inaccurate information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Because we do not sell or share personal information, there is nothing to opt out of, and we do not collect or use sensitive personal information through this Site. To exercise your rights, email privacy@nextrank.io; we will verify your request using the email address on file.
Other U.S. states. If you live in a state with a comprehensive privacy law (for example, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Utah, or Oregon), you have similar rights. Contact us to exercise them.
Global Privacy Control. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is no sale or sharing for the signal to stop. We honor it anyway: if your browser sends Global Privacy Control, the Site does not load analytics at all.
Children’s privacy
This Site is intended for adults preparing for professional exams. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information you share. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International users
We operate this Site from the United States and process information there. If you access the Site from outside the U.S., you understand your information will be processed in the U.S.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new “Last updated” date, and for material changes we will take reasonable steps to notify the people on our former waitlist.
